America's Top 50 Master Planned Communities

With nature trails leading through lush foliage and tall pine trees and more than a dozen neighborhoods with cottage-style, contemporary and luxury homes, Riverwood Plantation has been named among the Top 50 Best Master Planned Communities in the United States.

Lowcountry architecture with a wrap-around porch make for a beautiful clubhouse, with a poolside Barn Pavillion for activities. There's plenty to keep you busy with Movie nights on the amphitheater lawn, three nine-hole golf courses designed by Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, and Arnold Palmer, and Greenbrier Pond for fishing. The community is also home to Greenbrier Elementary, Greenbrier middle, and Greenbrier High schools.

First Choice Home Builders is currently building in the new Grahamstown neighborhood. These homes are priced in the mid to upper $200,000 range and offer a close proximity to the schools and a close knit community feel. We are also building houses in the Claremont and Pinelands neighborhoods, which offer larger homes on larger lots in the mid $300,000 to upper $400,000. These homes are still within walking distance to the schools and offer parks for families to gather.

Riverwood Towne Center offers a Publix, Tao Asian, McDonalds and CVS. Also very close to various entertainment options and medical care, Riverwood Plantation is "premier in quality".

As one resident put it " It's a place that tries to reach out to people in various stages in their lives, whether it's a startup family or an empty nester." Come and see all that Riverwood Plantation has to offer! Don't forget to stop 4085 Dewaal Street and check out our model home!

What to look for in a new home in the kitchen and bathrooms

We've all heard that kitchens and bath rooms sell homes .That is why at First Choice Home builders we use only the best materials. Starting with the cabinets in the kitchen and bath rooms we use only custom made wood cabinets, with built in up grades like Lazy' Susan in corner cabinets, spice pull out racks, custom crown molding and custom granite counter tops. No prebuilt cabinets out of box that are made out of cardboard or particle board with faux wood vinyl overlay made to look like wood grain. We also use Delta Victorian faucets through out our homes made of metal with brilliant finishes like oil rubbed bronze and brushed nickel. Before buying a home make sure the faucets are not plastic with a faux metal finish that will not last and fail prematurely. All First Choice Homes choice homes use Pex water lines . With slab foundation the most common problem is water lines breaking in slabs due to settling or cracks in the slab that cause the pipe in the concrete to fail. This results in plumbers having to come into your home pull up you flooring and jack hammer up the concrete to try to locate the leaks and repair it at great expense to home owners .That is why a First choice we have no water lines in the slab we pay more to keep all water lines in the walls where theses issue do not come into play later in the life of your new homes. Before buying a new home check out the difference in materials used and think about how the product will look in a year or more. Look at not only the appearance but how they are made and what are they made out of to insure that they are not going to have to be replaced in a few years due to swelling from water contact.

Engery Star New Homes Why Is That So Important

Energy Star certified new homes are the future in new homes .To start an Energy Star certified new home is going to uses alot less energy than a standard built house. Energy Star is the starting point to going green and lowering your carbon foot print. I am sure that a lot of people really want to be green, but everyone likes to save money. Its no secret that our local energy rate is going up to pay for the new reactor at plant Vogtle Nuclear Plant and the estimates are the amount we are going to be paying for our power is going up 20 to 30%. If you take that and that our Energy Star new homes are 20 to 50% more efficient than 2006 international building code and add that to the increase in the rate that we will soon see your new Energy Star home is going to save you anywhere from 40% to 80% less on your energy bill. So why wood you want to by a home that is going to cost more to own and not keep you as comfortable or help when its time to move. US House bill H.R 2998 passed on June 26 2009 and is in the US senate if passed there it would require new homes to be built 30 more efficient than mandated in the 2006 international energy conservation code. That number increases to 50 percent by 2014 and then increase 5 percent every three year. So do you want to by a new home that is going to be harder to sell because it has to compete with Energy star homes that cost so much less to operate. Then make sure you don't settle for a home that isn't build to the Energy Star standards which could in the near future put you at a great disadvantage when is time to move up. We have been comparing to new homes most existing homes are much worse when it comes to energy efficient than even a standard new home . please contact use so we can show you all the things that going in to making a new home Engery Star Certified. Thank you look foward to hearing from you.
